Students will be inspired by stacked cardboard sculptures and functional objects (vases, bowls, lamp shades) and design/build their own.

Students will start with a pre-designed file of a small stool with six plain, rectangular legs. Students will redesign the legs of the stool in their own creative ways.

Students will work in teams to improve on a pre-designed wind turbine.

Students will work in teams to design a bridge with a limited amount of material. Students are encouraged to iterate on their design in order to design the tallest tower in the class.

Students will work in teams to identify problems with a pre-designed grabber arm file. Students will design and build prototypes in order to make the grabber arm more successful.

Students select a pre-designed file to build a laser cut finger joint box. Students will customize the box and assemble it.

Students will learn about Pop Art and its emphasis on repetition. Students will import a photo to Beam Studio and use gradient controls to transform the photo into 4 different designs to be etched into a piece of wood.

Students will select a location that is meaningful to them or someone they care about. Students will use boolean subtraction to edit down their map and turn it into a laser cut coaster design.

Students will research a currency system (current or outdated) that utilizes coins. Students will replicate the coin design, and develop a way to laser etch on both sides of a piece of wood, to create a replica of the coin.
Students will explore diverse projects, blending hands-on design, team collaboration, and laser cutting from crafting habitats to inventing prototypes.
Students will engage in diverse design tasks, from creatively modifying furniture and emulating Pop Art, to enhancing engineering prototypes and crafting laser-etched memorabilia.
Students will use laser cutting for diverse projects, from tessellated puzzles and packaging designs to structural prototypes and real-world problem-solving.
